If you are a subscriber to Lackner 6-in-1 Windows and use EstateVal as your source for security valuations, the EstateVal/Lackner 6-in-1 interface can help eliminate unnecessary manual entry of data between the software packages.

The EstateVal/Lackner 6-in-1 interface is a short process. The interface starts out in Lackner and downloads to EstateVal. Securities are priced and uploaded back to Lackner.

The following steps are how the interface works:

Add an estate in Lackner 6-in-1, Activate 706 and Transactions

After filling in the decedent's information, click the 6-in-1 button and select Transactions

Start entering your securities by adding CUSIP, Name and Units. Click the down arrow for US 706 to designate a Schedule

Click on New Trans to enter a new security and click Prev or Next to view the securities entered. A list will also show on the right hand side of the entry screen.

When all is entered, click EVP and you will be asked if you would like the securities valued through EVP, click OK

If the program path and data path are not found, you can either select the Default directory of EstateVal or run Detect to let the computer look for the program and data files

You will be asked again if you would like to Continue or Cancel and if you choose to Continue, EstateVal will open and a list of the securities are displayed. A file named "lackap.evp" will be created.

You then go to Evaluate and then Date of Death to send your securities for pricing

Close the report and the EstateVal program then click Continue. You will then be directed back to the Lackner 6-in-1 Main screen where values are then posted for each security

Click 6-in-1 and choose US Estate Tax Return to get to the 706 form

Click View Scheds A-O and select a Schedule to get to the Schedule and view what was imported.
